It was cold last Friday so I put on a tank-top before checking out the pool for castaways..I saw a spider on the bottom - all clenched up like a monkey fist..For some reason I got the net and fished him out..Brought him inside and put him on a paper towel under a 60 watt lamp to dry out..I have NEVER done this before.. An hour passed, then two..Nothing..
After three hours I blew on him and saw a leg move..In another hour he was moving all eight, drying each one at a time..He stretched out and laid back down on the towel..
Soon, although he didn't care for having his photo taken he crawled into my palm..We had a "moment", and I put him back, then went to bed..Five hours later in the morning, he was gone..
He was, (is) a Wolf Spider and they are a little venomous..They don't spin webs - they attack their prey on foot..He is still somewhere in the house - but I'm the only one thrilled about it..

ReplyDeleteTesting..
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! Spiders have always scared me. Maybe that's because I do not know them like you do.
ReplyDeleteYou “spin” a compelling story! Glad he was just a little venomous. Yikes! This reminds me of a verse from a song:
ReplyDeleteAll God's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on a telephone wire,
Some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they've got now.
Thank you for giving one of God’s creatures a place in the choir!
Thank you, Benjie!
